Year 2 Bring Shakespeare to Life at Mary Arden’s Farm
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Year 2 embarked on a school trip to Mary Arden's Farm.
The children set off at 9am, buzzing with anticipation, and hopped on the coach for a short journey. The highlight of the trip was acting out scenes from "A Midsummer Night's Dream," which transported the children into Shakespeare's world. It was hilarious and thrilling to watch them play the parts!
After the performance, everyone explored the farm where they met all sorts of animals, just like the ones Shakespeare would have known. Learning about how these animals were used in daily life back then was very interesting.
The children also stepped inside an old-fashioned house from the Tudor era. It was like stepping back in time! They discovered how people made things using materials from the farm animals. It was amazing to see how resourceful they were.
After lunch, the children made their own headdresses and participated in freeze-frame activities which brought scenes from Shakespeare's plays to life.
At the end of the day, everyone climbed back on the bus, chattering about all the fun they'd had. It was a fantastic trip filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable experiences.
