Year 5 Tackle Tangrams

For their Maths lesson, the Year 5 girls headed up to the Imagination Station where they converted Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions using fraction cubes.

They then partitioned the fractions on the walls around the room, engaging in excellent conversations about the denominators being the same and how fractions connect.

Year 5 pupils attending 'Challenge Yourself Maths Club', visited the Imagination Station where they were challenged to draw a square and separate it into tangrams.

You can try this at home by separating a square into seven polygons. The tangram is a deceptively simple set of seven geometric shapes made up of five triangles (two small triangles, one medium triangle, and two large triangles), a square and a parallelogram.
